Firm News

Birmingham, Ala., May 18, 2017 - Burr & Forman announces that John J. Coleman, III, a partner in the firm's Birmingham office, has been named to the list of "100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers in America," published by Human Resource Executive and Lawdragon. This marks the tenth consecutive year that Coleman has been recognized on the list. He remains the only Alabama lawyer honored.

The "100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers in America" list is derived from hundreds of law firm submissions and editorial research conducted over the past year. Coleman has been honored with this distinction since 2009. The full list of honorees can be viewed online here.

Coleman is a former chair and member of the firm's Labor & Employment Practice Group, whose trial experience includes the successful defense as lead counsel of banking, utility, automotive, manufacturing and food service industry employers in over 100 bench and jury trials. Coleman's experience includes one of the first Americans With Disabilities Act cases tried to a jury in Alabama, two of the first ADA cases in the state in which a jury returned a defense verdict based on the absence of an ADA disability, one of the first ADA verdicts for the employer in a mixed motive case, and one of the first ADA harassment cases nationwide.
