In an article published on Sept. 29, 2016 by the Birmingham Business Journal, Matt Scully provides guidance on the changes in legislation regarding overtime pay. More than 20 states, including Alabama, are currently battling the resolution, as they believe the new regulations will negatively affect their tight budgets. The overtime rules are set to go into effect on December 1 and the odds for relief are slim. Scully states that, "The changes may force upon state and local governments higher labor and compliance costs at a time when many government budgets are already stretched thin."
