Overview

David Dorris is an associate in the firm’s Transportation, Insurance, and Product Section, where he represents clients in complex litigation matters across a range of industries, including construction, energy, and manufacturing.

David has experience handling cases from inception through resolution, including construction defect and delay claims, warranty issues, liquidated damages, and breach of contract claims. He regularly drafts and argues dispositive motions, manages discovery and depositions, and works closely with clients to develop practical strategies that address both immediate challenges and long-term business goals.

Before joining Burr, David practiced with several Houston-based firms, where he represented contractors, subcontractors, energy companies, and businesses in high-stakes litigation. He also gained prior experience in the construction supply and industrial services industries, which provides him with valuable perspective when advising clients in litigation and business matters.

Experience

  • Successfully negotiated non-suit of client through drafting and presenting an anti-slapp motion pursuant to the Texas Citizens Participation Act on behalf of an individual board member.
  • Argued and successfully obtained summary judgment on all claims by a plaintiff that waged claims of breach of contract.
  • Argued and obtained a dismissal for claims of employment discrimination.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of service center for the mentally handicapped for claims brought by the plaintiff that violated both Texas and Federal laws.
