Overview

Michael serves as the Managing Partner for Burr’s Tampa office and is a member of the firm’s Real Estate group. His practice focuses on all areas of real estate and financing transactions, developments, investments, and management. Michael routinely represents private equity groups, family offices, public companies, banks, private lenders, and real estate investment trusts in all areas of real estate and lending. He has extensive experience in generally counseling and advising clients on various regulatory, financial, employment, growth, and other legal and business issues facing growing companies in many sectors such as real estate, healthcare, financial services, and hospitality. He also assists his clients in general business counseling, entity formation, joint venture agreements, and related corporate-type matters.

Michael is a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Court mediator and an engaged member of the community, where he is honored to provide pro bono services to many deserving families as recipients of homes through the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, as well as serve on various non-profit, Florida Bar, and community-related committees and boards at the local and state level. Michael earned his J.D. from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Florida.

Experience

  • Advises numerous family offices, private equity investment funds, and other investors in real estate and financing transactions for retail, hospitality, industrial, residential, multi-family, and other investment properties collectively totaling in the billions of dollars.
  • Represents the real estate investment arm of a publicly traded insurance company in numerous transactions and management of an extensive portfolio of varying asset classes and types.
  • Represents a national publicly traded restaurant chain in numerous real estate transactions, including development matters, lease negotiations, and property divestiture work.
  • Represents regional and national commercial banks and private lenders in financing hundreds of millions of dollars in loans secured by real estate and other assets.
  • Represents national special servicers and finance companies in the workout and foreclosure of complex commercial loans, as well as the sale and disposition of acquired collateral.
