Amy Jordan Wilkes

Amy serves as first chair counsel and as a highly experienced legal advisor and strategic partner to C-suite, senior management, in-house counsel, and human resources personnel regarding key people and policy initiatives, employee relations, corporate compliance with state and federal employment laws, and risk mitigation/litigation issues. Amy is admitted to practice in multiple states throughout the Southeast, and she services a broad range of industries, including multi-unit/quick-service food and beverage, retail, manufacturing, automotive, and banking. Amy is also a member of Burr & Forman's Food & Beverage Sector Group.

Amy works collaboratively with her clients to craft practical solutions to achieve their business goals and objectives. She regularly provides advice and counsel to executive-level management employees and in-house legal counsel regarding:  human resources best practices, employee engagement and retention, wage and hour issues, WARN Act compliance and reductions in force, mergers and acquisitions, immigration compliance, labor relations and union avoidance, collective bargaining, employee investigations and discipline/termination, third-party vendor contracts, employment agreements, preparation and review of employee handbooks, and the development and implementation of all types of human resources policies, procedures and systems. Amy regularly provides training to management and non-management employees on workplace culture issues and compliance with federal and state employment laws. She also leads federal and state agency investigations and litigation of individual and class/collective claims arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, Section 1981, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, the National Labor Relations Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and numerous other federal and state employment laws.

Amy has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America and as one of Alabama’s “Legal Elite.” During law school, she served as a Managing Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review and was listed on the Dean’s List.
