Following his recognition with top honors for businesses with 100-299 local employees at the 2021 CEO Awards from the Birmingham Business Journal, the publication published a Q&A with Burr & Forman CEO Ed Christian on January 28, 2022.

In discussing his career path to this point, Christian highlighted the mentors and leaders who have contributed to his success, including Lee Thuston, Jack Stephenson and Sam Oliver. He also talked about the transition from full-time practicing attorney to managing partner, which felt like a career change but required Ed to repurpose the “grinder” personality that made him a successful attorney. In reviewing the proudest accomplishments of his career, Ed said,

“I’m most proud of the long-lasting relationships I’ve built with clients over my 26 years of practicing law. I love working with clients long term and really getting to know and understand them and their businesses well.”

The publication also asked for Ed’s perspective on the Birmingham business landscape now and going forward. Ed cited healthcare, manufacturing and supply chain and logistics as sectors that will continue driving economic growth in the region for the next several years. He emphasized the importance of continuing to revitalize the city core, education and the creation of quality jobs to continue to attract a young workforce, families and business.
