Forrest Latta Honored as Troy University Alumni of the Year
Burr & Forman is proud to announce that partner Forrest Latta has been named one of four Alumni of the Year by Troy University. Forrest will be recognized during the university’s Homecoming celebration on November 1st, with an on-field presentation at halftime of the Troy vs. Arkansas State football game in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
"Our partner Forrest Latta has been selected as one of Troy University’s four national Alumni of the Year for 2025," said Bill Wasden. "This is truly a singular honor, and Forrest’s recognition is drawn from over 172,000 Troy alumni among 50 states and 52 foreign countries. The Alumni of the Year award honors graduates who have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, community involvement, and continued service to Troy University.
Forrest is a partner in the firm’s Mobile office and chairs Burr & Forman’s Appellate team. A seasoned litigator, he represents clients in business disputes, insurance coverage and bad faith claims, product liability, and professional liability matters. He has handled more than 300 appeals, including several landmark cases addressing constitutional limits on punitive damages.
Beyond his legal practice, Forrest is deeply involved in professional and community leadership. He serves on the Alabama Board of Bar Examiners and the Alabama Rules of Evidence Committee and is a past president of the Mobile Bar Association. In 2024, he received the Livingston Award from the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association for outstanding service to the defense bar. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for Troy University and the Board of Advisors for Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, and is active in several nonprofit organizations, including the American Camellia Society.
