Firm News

Burr & Forman is pleased to announce that Forrest Latta was named the 2025 recipient of the President’s Award by the Alabama State Bar at its 148th Annual Meeting last week.

Presented annually, the President’s Award honors an Alabama lawyer who has demonstrated exceptional service, dedication, and contributions to both the legal profession and the public. The recipient of this prestigious award embodies the State Bar’s motto, “Lawyers Render Service.”

Forrest is a partner in the firm’s Mobile office and chairs Burr & Forman’s Appellate practice section. As a litigation attorney, he represents clients in business disputes, insurance coverage and bad faith claims, product liability, and professional liability matters. He is frequently retained to handle post-judgment motions and appeals, with experience in more than 300 appeals, including numerous landmark cases addressing constitutional limits on punitive damages.

He currently serves on the Alabama Board of Bar Examiners and the Alabama Rules of Evidence Committee and is a Past President of the Mobile Bar Association. In 2024, he was honored with the Livingston Award by the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association for outstanding service to the defense bar.

Outside of his legal practice, Forrest is deeply involved in community service. He serves on the Board of Trustees for Troy University, sits on the Board of Advisors for Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, and is active in the American Camellia Society, along with other nonprofit organizations.
