Overview
Chris Burkhalter currently serves as counsel in the firm’s General Commercial Litigation practice group, where he represents clients before state and federal trial and appellate courts.
Chris has briefed matters before federal and state courts across the country, including the United States Supreme Court, and has presented oral argument before numerous federal and state appellate and trial courts. His experience includes drafting key briefing at all stages of litigation, including appellate briefing, motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, discovery motions, motions to exclude expert testimony, motions in limine, and applications for temporary restraining orders and injunctive relief.
Chris has also served as legal issues counsel on various trial teams, presenting arguments concerning legal issues before and during trial and ensuring arguments are preserved for appeal. In addition to his appellate and key briefing practice, Chris has experience managing litigation teams and handling all aspects of the litigation process, from initial internal investigations through discovery, trial and appeal.
In addition to his litigation practice, Chris also has experience assisting clients in responding to and investigating data security incidents, including breach notification responsibilities, investigation and remediation following an incident, managing litigation risk, and advising on appropriate procedures to prevent the next incident from occurring.
