Overview
John McDermott is an associate in the firm’s General Commercial Litigation practice group, representing clients in a broad range of matters in both state and federal courts throughout Florida. His practice primarily includes handling commercial disputes and business torts
John is experienced in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and discovery in cases involving breach of contract, negligence, defamation, breach of warranty, Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA), commercial evictions, civil fraud, and product liability. He has prepared for and attended multiple trials as second chair, where he examined and cross-examined fact witnesses and presented key evidence.
He also has substantial experience conducting and defending depositions and works closely with clients to gather facts, assess risk, and develop case strategy. In addition to his courtroom work, John regularly participates in settlement negotiations and mediations to help clients resolve disputes efficiently and effectively.
