Overview
Matt Modelski is a member of the firm’s Real Estate practice group, where he represents sponsors, investors and lenders in multifaceted transactions with a particular emphasis on development, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, and financing (debt and equity) in the multi-family, self-storage, renewable energy, and industrial sectors. He also represents clients in residential real estate and general corporate matters.
Matt comes from a background in the financial industry, having previously been a financial analyst at one of the nation’s largest wealth management firms. During his tenure with the firm, he worked with the firm’s Investment Committee in optimizing, implementing, and monitoring the firm’s investment strategy across client portfolios. Additionally, he collaborated with the firm’s tax, trust, and estate planning groups in providing a holistic wealth management approach to the firm’s clients.
Experience
- Represented sponsor in connection with the formation of a programmatic joint venture to acquire and own more than $500 million of self-storage facilities across the United States.
- Represented one of world’s largest alternative asset managers with a preferred equity investment in 112.3 MWdc and 113.8 photovoltaic solar electric generating facilities.
- Represented self-storage sponsor in connection with $85 million acquisition of 8 asset self-storage portfolio.
- Represented tax equity investor in connection with an approximate $520 million total tax equity investment in a portfolio of solar and wind projects.
- Represented multi-family sponsor in securing equity and debt financing, including a structured equity investment, for a $62 million garden-style multifamily property within a planned unit development in South Carolina.
- Represented Charleston-based development and investment management firm in negotiation of joint venture agreement with a global private equity real estate firm, and the acquisition of real property earmarked for $60 million build-to-rent project within a planned unit development.
